UMAC men's & women's basketball postseason tournament fields are set

Following an exciting final weekend of regular season play the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Postseason Tournament fields are set with semifinalaction scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20 followed by the championship games on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The University of Minnesota, Morris (14-0 UMAC), who clinched their fourth straightUMAC women's regular-season title last week as well as theNo.1 seed in the post season tournament, will host No. 4 College of St. Scholastica(8-6) at7:30 in Wednesday's semifinal. In the other semifinal the No. 3 seed Martin Luther College (9-5)will travel to second-seeded Northwestern College (11-3)for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

Semifinals - Wednesday, Feb. 20

For the men, Northwestern College (12-2 UMAC)earned their10th UMAC regular-seasontrophy with Friday's win over Northland College and the No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament. Bethany Lutheran College, North Central University, and University of Minnesota, Morris all finished the regular season with UMAC records of 9-5 and in a three-way tie for second place in the UMAC. By virtue of tie-breaker criteria,BethanyLutheran earned the No. 2 seed.North Central and Minnesota Morris were not only equal in their league records, but also in each of the five tiebreakers causing theNo. 3 and No. 4seeds to be determined by a coin flip.North Centralwon the flip, giving them the No.3 seed and will travel to Mankato to take on Bethany Lutheran on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.The Eagles will play hostto fourth-seededUMM on Wednesday evening, also at 7:30 p.m.
