UMM baseball gets four UMAC honors

After having their best year since the mid 90's the Cougars baseball team had four players honored in the UMAC Postseason Awards. Eric Terres led the team with First Team honors. Devin Waldvogel and Cody Reinke were Honorable Mention and Jake Schmitz was named to the Sportsmanship Team.

It is the third time that Terres has found himself earning All-UMAC honors after being honorable mention the previous two seasons. On the year Terres hit .297 with 35 hits, second most on the team. He had a .356 slugging percentage and a .353 on-base percentage. Terres had a team high 33 runs scored on the year, seventh in the UMAC. He also had 16 stolen bases on the year, tied for second in the conference. His .936 fielding percentage was the best of his career.

Reinke found himself in the top ten of several stats categories in the UMAC. He hit .361 this season, seventh in the UMAC and slugged .525, which was fifth in the league. He was third in triples with 13 and seventh in hits with 44. He also had 14 stolen bases this season, eighth in the UMAC. Reinke reached base at a .410 clip this year. He went 1-1 on the mound and had six strikeouts in 13.2 innings pitched on the year.

Waldvogel led the league with five saves in 13 appearances in 2014. He was 2-0 with a 2.21 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched and 14 strikeouts. He allowed just 12 hits and only one extra base hit on the mound. In the field Waldvogel had just one error and added seven assists from the outfield. Waldvogel hit .256, slugged.256 and had a .348 on-base percentage. He averaged nearly one RBI per hit this year, having nine RBI on ten hits in 39 at bats. He scored seven runs and stole one base in 2014.
