UMM to hold Fall Day of Service for campus, community

The University of Minnesota Morris Office of Community Engagement will be hosting a Fall Day of Service on Monday, Sept. 3 for campus and community members.

Registration for the event will be held at the UMM Welcome Center between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m. on Monday. A pre-service discussion and activities will begin at 1:00 p.m., and participants will be transported to volunteer locations beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The projects will be taking place at several locations around the Morris area. Project include cleaning and organizing projects at Someplace Safe in Morris; organizing and shelving donations at the Someplace Safe Thrift Store in Alexandria; bingo and fellowship with elders at West Wind Village; weeding and harvesting at UMM organic and Native American gardens; and a roadside clean up with Federated Church. There will also be a panel about student-initiated and led opportunities, to be followed by fruit deliveries at Grandview Apartments.

A supper and post-project reflection will be held at East Side Park that evening.
