UMM hosting annual Community of Scholars event Feb. 1-2

MORRIS, Minn. -- The UniversityofMinnesota, Morris will welcome approximately 200 prospective students and their families on Friday, Feb. 1, and Saturday, Feb. 2, at the seventh annualCommunityofScholarsevent. Students from across the country will compete for the University’s most prestigious competitive scholarships: the PrairieScholarsAward and the MorrisScholarsAward.

Students from Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, Illinois, Texas, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, and Arizona have been invited to participate in this year’s event. In addition to vying for prestigious awards, candidates will have the opportunity to connect with otherscholarshipfinalists, to interact with current students, to engage with faculty and staff, and to explore the Morris campus. Students and their families may also take part in toursofthe surroundingcommunity.

Recipientsofthe PrairieScholarsAward are selected for their exemplary academic and leadership records. PrairieScholarsreceive ascholarshippackage equivalent to full tuition, renewable for up to four years.

Recipientsofthe MorrisScholarsAward receive a $24,000scholarshippackage, disbursed evenly over four years. In addition, MorrisScholarsreceive a one-time $2,500scholarlystipend that may be used to engage in an eligiblescholarlyexperience—to study abroad, to participate in research or artistic projects, or to travel to academic conferences—during their second, third, or fourth year at Morris.
