Careers in Biology

Alumnus Jeffrey L. Ledermann ’87 will present “From Morris to Mahtomedi: Forging a Career and Life on a Sustainable Path” on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. in Science 2950. A three-time recipient of the Minnesota Environmental Initiative Award, Ledermann has spent more than 20 years creating and leading environmental outreach and education programs.

Spanish Conversation Table

Please join us at La Mesa de Conversación en la Universidad de Minnesota, Morris, otherwise known as the Spanish Conversation Table at UMM, on Wednesday, March 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Student Center’s Turtle Mountain Cafe. All are welcome! Students, faculty, staff, and community members have casual conversations in Spanish about a variety of topics. Meet new people and improve your Spanish.

Soup and Substance

There will be a Soup and Substance discussion on Thursday, March 20, at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center’s Oyate Hall Alumni Room. Soup and Substance is an informal dialogue in which participants discuss social issues of impact to the campus and community. All are welcome. A free light meal will be served.

Annual Juried Student Art Exhibit Opening Reception

UMM’s annual Juried Student Art Exhibit Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Edward J. and Helen Jane Morrison Gallery. This year’s juror is Becky Dunham, curator of the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota.

CAC Films Presents—We Are Marshall

There will be a showing of the film We Are Marshall on Friday, March 21, at 9:30 p.m. in the Student Center’s Edson Auditorium. This event is sponsored by Campus Activities Council Films.

The Second Annual F-Word Conference

The Morris Feminists will hold the second annual F-Word Conference on Saturday, March 22, from 9 a.m.–7 p.m. on the Morris campus. Conference sessions will address redefining gender and culture, expanding socio-cultural understandings in relation to gender, investigating intersections of feminism, and general empowerment and respect. This year the conference will open with “Vaguely Vogue: A Gender-Neutral Fashion Show” on Friday, March 21, at 4:30 p.m. and “Bawdy Blue: A Burlesque Revue” at 7 p.m. Both events will take place in the Student Center’s Oyate Hall.

March Madness Concert Presented by KUMM

UMM’s student-run radio station KUMM will present its March Madness Concert on Saturday, March 22, at 6 p.m. in the Student Center’s Edson Auditorium.

UMM Concert Choir

There  will be a UMM Concert Choir concert, directed by Christina Armendarez, on Sunday, March 23, at 3 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall. Following their recent tour to Costa Rica, the choir will perform a varied program of a cappella works. Tickets: adults $5, seniors/children $3, students $1.
