Morris Area Farmers Market
The Morris Healthy Eating team encourages you to visit the Morris Area Farmers Market, where farmers, growers, producers, and artisans sell their own products directly to the public, allowing customers to have a direct relationship with the producer of the items they purchase. The market is held from 3 until 6 p.m. every Monday and Thursday at East Side Park (corner of Seventh Street and Colorado Avenue, Morris).
CAC Concerts and Welcome Weekend Presents—Mason Jennings
On Sunday, Sept. 1, at 5 p.m. the Campus Activities Council (CAC) Concerts Committee and Welcome Weekend will present Minnesota singer/songwriter Mason Jennings in concert on the campus mall.
Breakfast for Dinner Improv Performance
On Sunday, Sept. 1, at 8 p.m. there will be an improv performance by the campus improv troupe, Breakfast for Dinner, in the Student Center's Edson Auditorium.
On Monday, Sept. 2, University of Minnesota, Morris offices will be closed in observance of Labor Day.
Welcome Weekend—Promise on the Prairie
On Monday, Sept. 2, there will be a showing of Promise on the Prairie in the Student Center's Edson Auditorium, beginning at 1 p.m. This event is sponsored by Campus Activities Council (CAC) Films.
Romancing the Self in Early Modern Englishwomen's Life Writing
On Thursday, Sept. 5, there will be a reception in honor of Julie Eckerle, associate professor of English, on the occasion of the publication of her book, Romancing the Self in Early Modern Englishwomen's Life Writing. The reception will be held at the La Fave House at 5:30 p.m.
Art Club Poster Sale
On Tuesday, Sept. 3, and Wednesday, Sept. 4, there will be a poster sale in the Student Center's Oyate Hall from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Performing Arts Series: Mike Super
Mike Super will open the University of Minnesota, Morris Performing Arts Series 2013-14 season with his performance, Magic and Illusion, on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Edson Auditorium. Super has pioneered a new form of magic with his down-to-earth style and personality, transcending the "trick" and bringing the art of magic back to the people.
International Read-in: the Sound of Literacy
The International Programs Committee will host International Read-in: the Sound of Literacy to showcase Morris's linguistic diversity as its celebrates the significance of literacy in all languages across the globe. The event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 4:30 p.m. in the Student Center's Oyate Hall. All are welcome to come and read a short [maximum of 10 minutes] piece in any language, or to enjoy hearing others do so. Participants are encouraged to provide a brief English-language summary or explanation of readings in other languages, if at all possible, for the benefit of the audience. There will be sign-in sheets at the door in open-mic-style, so please feel free to sign-up and come and go as you please. Refreshments will be served!
