Cougar Homecoming 5K
Registration for the Cougar Homecoming 5K will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Regional Fitness Center (RFC). The 5K begins at 9 a.m. For more information, contact Chad Braegelmann at 320-589-6167.
The national LSAT exam will be administered on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Science and Math building room 2190.
Homecoming Tailgate Party
The Tailgating Party will be held just west of Big Cat Stadium and will provide traditional tailgating fare from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. Enjoy a brat or burger provided by and supporting student organizations while listening to live jazz.
Homecoming Athletic Competitions
Homecoming athletic competitions are twofold this year. Cougar volleyball takes on Northwestern in the P.E. Center at noon, and Cougar football kicks off at 1 p.m. in Big Cat Stadium.
KUMM Homecoming Concert
The KUMM Homecoming Concert will be held at the Old No. 1 on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. Come join in, and listen to some good bands.
2011 Homecoming Concert
On Sunday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m., students and alumni will present the annual Homecoming Concert with performances by the Concert Choir, Jazz Ensemble, and Symphonic Winds. The concert will be held in Recital Hall in Humanities Fine Arts, and a reception follows.
Spanish Language Film Festival
The Spanish Discipline is bringing quality films from Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Spain to west central Minnesota for the benefit and enjoyment of the campus and community at no charge. The first film, Biutiful, will be screened on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. The campus and public are invited to the free films, with English subtitles, in the Morris Theatre at 12 East Sixth Street.
Annual Barber Lecture
Ofelia Ferrán, associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, will give the 2011-12 Barber Lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, in Recital Hall, Humanities Fine Arts. Her talk will reflect her research on memory and trauma studies within the context of contemporary Spanish literature and culture. The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception follows.
A blood drive will be held in the Student Center's Oyate Hall on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Jazz Ensembles Concert
The Jazz Ensemble will perform on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall.
