Music Recital

Taking place on Sunday, Sept. 30 there will be a music recital featuring Coca Bochonko, viola and Shannon Loehrke, piano, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the HFA Recital Hall.

Convocation with Michele Norris

On Monday, Oct. 1, CAC Convocations; Commission on Women; and the Equity, Diversity, and Intercultural Program will feature Michele Norris in a lecture entitled "Race, Gender, Inclusion, and the Future of Leadership in America." Norris is the host of NPR's All Things Considered, an Emmy Award Winner, and a Peabody Award Winner. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center's Edson Auditorium and is free and open to the public. Following the event, there will be a reception and book signing until 10:30 p.m. in Science/Math 1020.

MN House/Senate Candidate Forum

On Tuesday, Oct. 2, there will be a Minnesota House 12A and Senate 12 Candidate Forum from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 in the Student Center's Turtle Mountain Café.

Banned Books

Help celebrate the freedom to read by attending the Banned Books Reading on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Briggs Library McGinnis Room. Hear excerpts from banned and challenged books and attend the discussion on censorship that will follow. The event is sponsored by Briggs Library and Sigma Tau Delta as part of the American Library Association's Banned Books Week. Jane Addams Project

The Jane Addams Project is a cross-cultural discussion circle for Spanish and English-speaking Morris residents and UMM students. The discussion will be held on Tuesday, October 2, from 7 until 9 p.m. in Imholte 111.

Popcorn Concert

There will be a Popcorn Concert performance held in Oyate Hall in the Student Center on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m.

Spanish Conversation Table

On Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 6 until 7 p.m. in Turtle Mountain Café, please join us at La Mesa de Conversación en la Universidad de Minnesota, Morris, otherwise known as the Spanish Conversation Table at UMM. All are welcome. Students, faculty, staff, and community members have casual conversations in Spanish about a variety of topics. Meet new people and improve your Spanish.

Blood Drive

There will be a blood drive in the Student Center's Oyate Hall from Wednesday Oct. 3 until Friday Oct. 5. The drive runs from 11:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. each day.

French Singer/ Songwriter Eric Vincent

On Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. French singer/songwriter Eric Vincent will be playing in the Student Center's Edson Auditorium. All are welcome to attend this free and family-friendly musical event. Vincent, inspired by a banjo and a mandolin, now draws inspiration from the more than 140 countries he has visited as a singer/songwriter, musician, and a lover of peoples from around the world. The concert is sponsored by Entre Nous and the French discipline.

Book Group for Wild Comfort

On Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 7 p.m. until 8 there will be a Book Group meeting discussing Wild Comfort in the Briggs Library McGinnis Room.

37th Annual Midwest Philosophy Colloquium

On Friday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 p.m. the first lecture of the 37th Annual Midwest Philosophy Colloquium, entitled "Ethical Intuitionism," will be presented by Michael Huemer in Imholte Hall 109. Huemer is a professor from the University of Colorado-Boulder. The theme of the colloquium is moral realism.

CAC Films Presents Devil's Backbone

On Friday, Oct. 5 at 9:30 p.m. CAC Films will show the film Devil's Backbone in the Student Center's Edson Auditorium.

2012 Festival of Spanish Language Cinema

On Saturday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. the Festival of Spanish Language Cinema will return with The Skin I Live in/ La piel que habito (directed by Pedro Almodóvar, 2011) Rated R. All screenings will take place at the Morris Theatre and are free and subtitled in English.

Jazz Ensembles Concert

On Saturday, Oct. 6, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. there will be a Jazz Ensembles Concert in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Enchanted Gardens

The University of Minnesota, Morris will host a collaborative performance and installation event featuring Beth Winterfeldt, pianist, and Nicole Roberts Hoiland, sculptor, on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall. Winterfeldt will perform Richard Danielpour's The Enchanted Garden Preludes alongside Hoiland's sculptural work, which is inspired by the music.
