Public Service Learning Presentations: Native American Organic Garden
On Monday, April 29, Wednesday, May 1, and Friday, May 3, there will be Native American Organic Garden presentations beginning at 9:10 a.m. in Imholte Hall 111.
GWSS Discussion Series: “The Julia Child Project”
A presentation entitled “The Julia Child Project” will take place on Monday, April 29, at 5 p.m. at the LaFave House (305 College Avenue, Morris). Several times each month, faculty members doing gender, women, and sexuality studies (gwss)-related scholarship present their “work in progress.” Each work showcased is at a different stage of production, but all presenters are looking for lively discussion and feedback from the audience.
German Conversation TableThe German Conversation table is an informal opportunity to converse in Deutsch. People with all levels of proficiency are welcome! The German Conversation table is held every Monday at 6 p.m. in the Student Center’s Turtle Mountain Cafe.
French Conversation TableThe French Conversation table is an informal opportunity to converse in French. People with all levels of proficiency are welcome! The French Conversation table is held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Student Center’s Turtle Mountain Cafe.
Jane Addams ProjectThe Jane Addams Project is a cross-cultural discussion circle for Spanish- and English-speaking Morris residents and students. The discussion will be held on Tuesday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in Imholte Hall 111.
Dakota Iapi Teunhindapi : "We all Cherish the Dakota Language" ScreeningOn Wednesday, May 1, there will a public screening of the documentary “We all Cherish the Dakota Language.” The film promotes understanding, respect, and awareness of the Dakota language and was created by Dakota Wicohan, a nonprofit organization co-founded by Teresa Luckow Peterson ’91. The showing will begin at 6 p.m. in Humanities Fine Arts 6.
Spanish Conversation TablePlease join us at La Mesa de Conversación en la Universidad de Minnesota, Morris—otherwise known as the Spanish Conversation Table at UMM—on Wednesday, May 1, at 6 p.m. in the Student Center’s Turtle Mountain Cafe. All are welcome! Students, faculty, staff, and community members have casual conversations in Spanish about a variety of topics. Meet new people and improve your Spanish!
Thursday Afternoon Faculty Seminar (TAFS)The next Thursday Afternoon Faculty Seminar will be presented by Christopher Cole, professor of biology, on May 2 in Imholte Hall 109. The title of the talk is “Forest Genomics: Growth, Defense, and the Evolution of a Major Biochemical Pathway.” Refreshments will be served beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Choir ConcertOn Thursday, May 2, there will be a Choir Concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall.
Russian Conversation TableThe Russian Conversation table is an informal opportunity to converse in Russian. People with all levels of proficiency are welcome! It is held every Friday at 4 p.m. in the Student Center’s Turtle Mountain Cafe.
Cinco de Mayo EventOn Friday, May 3, Vamos Juntos and Voces Unidas will host a Cince de Mayo celebration at Faith Lutheran Church (108 West Eighth Street, Morris) from 5 until 8 p.m. The menu will feature several traditional authentic Mexican dishes like pozole soup, carnitas, tamales, tacos and many Mexican desserts.
University Choir ConcertOn Friday, May 3, there will be a University Choir Concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall.
CAC Films Presents— “The Dark Knight Rises”On Friday, May 3, there will be a showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” in the Student Center, Edson Auditorium, beginning at 9:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by Campus Activities Council (CAC) Films.
Improv ShowOn Saturday, May 4, there will be a Breakfast for Dinner Improv Show beginning at 7 p.m. in the Student Center’s Edson Auditorium.
