An opera workshop, directed by Melissa Hanson and Ray Schultz, will perform Thursday through Saturday, April 30 to May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall.
Bread 'N Bowls fundraiser
A Bread 'N Bowls fundraiser will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 3, in the Morris Area Elementary School. This is a service-learning event to combat hunger featuring bread, soup and dessert. Those who arrive early will receive free ceramic bowls, created by Morris campus art faculty Kevin Flicker and area students.
Symphonic Winds Concert
The Morris campus student Symphonic Winds will give their final performance of this academic year at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3, in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall. The program, conducted by Dr. Martin H. Seggelke, will consist of several works, including solo concerto performances by seniors Kati Hamlin at the piano and Brian Kotila on euphonium. Senior Adam Schmiesing will lead from the podium as student conductor for "Epinicion" by John Paulson. The concert promises a variety of material that is certain to appeal to a wide range of musical tastes. Tickets for the event will be sold in advance at the Information Desk in the campus Student Center as well as at the door on the day of the concert. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children, and $1 for students with UMM ID. A beverage reception will follow the concert at no additional cost. The UMM music discipline presents Kevin Johnson, tenor and alto saxophone, in his senior recital on Sunday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m.
Dani Larson will perform her senior percussion recital on Monday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m.
Mixed Student Recital
A mixed student recital will be presented on Tuesday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m.
There is no admission charged for student recitals. All recitals are held in Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall.
Jazz Combo Concert
The jazz combos, directed by Jim Carlson, will perform on Tuesday, May 5, at 2 p.m. in the Turtle Mountain Café, Student Center. There will be no charge for admission.
A Choral Concert by the UMM Concert Choir, directed by Ken Hodgson, will be performed on Thursday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall.
Last day of instruction
The final day of instruction for the spring semester will be Friday, May 8. Final examinations will be given May 11-15. The Commencement ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, on the Campus Mall. Rain location is the P.E. Center gymnasium.
