The Dance Ensemble will present its fall 2010 program, "Fame," in the Student Center's Edson Auditorium twice on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 1 and 7 p.m. Ensemble members will incorporate a variety of styles, moves, and beats in more than 20 dances performed during "Fame." Tickets will be available at the door.
Jazz Combos Concert
Jazz Combos, under the direction of Joe Carucci, will perform on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the HFA Recital Hall. The concerts will feature music by Cannonball Adderley, Charles Mingus, Mike Gill, Adam Helgeson, Craig Sandberg, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joe Carucci, and more.
Senior Voice Recital
Donovan Hanson will perform on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2:30 p.m. in HFA 160.
On Monday, Nov. 29, from 5:30 until 7 p.m., Morris Community Meal will highlight Hmong cuisine at the Morris Senior Community Center at 603 Oregon Avenue in Morris. Hmong cuisine is food specific to peoples of the mountainous regions of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Organizers plan to serve spring rolls with rice and stir-fry as the main dish. Other sponsors for November's meal are Federated Church and Morris Human Rights Commission.

Chris Farrell, author of The New Frugality: How to Consume Less, Save More, and Live Better, will visit campus on Nov. 29 and 30. The economics editor for "Marketplace," heard on National Public Radio, Farrell will give a free public presentation at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center's Edson Auditorium on Monday, Nov. 29. A book signing and reception follow in Oyate Hall.
Native American Heritage Month
The Circle of Nations Indian Association will host a Round Dance in Oyate Hall from 7 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, in celebration of Native American Heritage Month.
Guest artist, Evelyn Dias, DMA candidate at Northwestern University, will give a piano recital in the HFA Recital Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission charge for the recital.
Get in the holiday spirit with Ratty and Mole. Follow the adventurous duo from beloved classic Wind in the Willows as they discover "A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols." The University of Minnesota, Morris Concert Choir, under the direction of Ken Hodgson, presents its 2010 Carol Concert on Friday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. The book's magical creatures will be at Assumption Church at 207 East Third Street in Morris to enjoy the concerts and join with the audience in singing carols and hymns. An optional English style meal prepared by Bello Cucina will be served in the lower level dining area of the church one-and-a-half hours prior to each performance.
