"A Prairie Home Companion" Tickets

Garrison Keillor will host "A Prairie Home Companion at UMM on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011. The radio show will broadcast live from 5 until 7 p.m. Central Time. Tickets will be available for the Morris show through the University of Minnesota Northrop ticketing system beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 10. Symphonic Winds Concert

The Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Martin Seggelke, is proud to present its last concert of 2010 on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall. As every year, this closing event promises to be the rousing climax of the ensemble's hard work, highlighting the annual large symphony feature. December's concert opens with a lively combination of holiday favorites played by Morris Tuba Christmas ensemble, a campus-community group. The concert will close with a grand finale. The Symphonic Winds will perform David Maslanka's Symphony No. 5. Tickets for the event will be sold at the door, and reserved tickets are available for purchase in advance at the information desk in the Student Center. String Ensemble Concert

The String Ensemble will perform on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m in HFA 160.

Fall Stage Reading

Swing Dance

Everyone is invited to a Winter Wonderland Semi-formal Swing Dance hosted by the UMM Jazz Ensembles and Swing Club on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 9 p.m. until midnight in Oyate Hall.

Angell Holiday Dance Program

Angell Dance Arts present its holiday performance on Thursday, Dec. 16, at 6:30 p.m. Admission charge.

Winter Closing Announcement

The Morris campus will close from Dec. 23 through Jan. 2, 2011. University services and business offices will be closed. Only essential services will be open. Morris Office of Fund Development and the University of Minnesota Foundation will be open for year-end giving. The University-wide closure is a cost-savings measure. Utility savings will be realized, and labor savings will be achieved during a time when activities are already reduced. Choir Concert Rebroadcast

Pioneer Public Television will rebroadcast the UMM Carol Concert that they taped live in 2007, "Everywhere, Everywhere, Christmas Tonight," on Saturday, Dec. 25, at 7 p.m.
