UMM women fall to Bethel University
The University of Minnesota, Morris women's basketball team fell to Bethel University 77-68 Tuesday in Arden Hills.
Leading by only one point at the half, Bethel outscored the Cougars 8-2 in the final two minutes of the game for the win.
The Cougars were 12-for-32 (37.5 percent) in the first half and 10-for-32 in the second (31.3 percent).
The Bethel women hit 40 percent of their field-goal shots.
At the free-throw line the Cougars were 18-of-20. Bethel hit 17 of 23.
Nikki Washek led the Cougars with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. She also recorded five steals.
Tynell Kocer, now only 13 away from the 1,000-point mark, had 13 points with two 3-pointers.
Steph Roggenbuck was 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. She had 10 points and six rebounds.
Kara Norris added eight points. Coresa Leighty had six rebounds and six points.
Joy Heysse, Jamie Rainey, and Jenni Noordmans had four points apiece. Noordmans led in assists with four and Rainey added five steals.
Diane Blommel scored one 3-pointer for the Cougars.
This weekend the Cougars travel to Mayville State.
