Update: Deputy shoots suspect in west-central Minnesota
MORRIS, Minn. -- A deputy shot a man early Saturday in rural Swift County after an armed robbery in Morris.
Just after midnight on Saturday, Feb. 22, an employee of the Met Lounge in Morris reported the armed robbery. The suspect and vehicle information was broadcast to surrounding counties, the Morris Police Department reported.
Shortly before 1 a.m., officers with the Swift County Sheriff’s Office and the Appleton Police Department stopped a vehicle matching the description of one involved in the robbery, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
During the stop, the suspect was shot by a Swift County deputy sheriff. The suspect, a 55-year-old man, was alone in the vehicle and the only person injured, the release said. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where his condition was unknown.
The name of the suspect is being withheld pending formal charges.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is handling the investigation.
