UPDATE: Owls finish fourth in Class A; Maranatha claims title

Mountain Iron-Buhl claimed third-place honors in Class A after defeating the Owls of Hancock 61-45 Saturday at Concordia-St. Paul.
Maranatha Christian Academy, which needed two overtimes to get past Hancock in the state semifinals on Friday, won the Class A championship Saturday with a 59-52 win over Nicollet.
The Rangers moved ahead for good at 17:11 of the second half when Kathy Ostman hit a lay-up attempt for a 23-21 lead. Charlotte Overbye extended Mountain Iron-Buhl's lead to 42-30 when she drained a 3-pointer at 9:57.
Three players scored in double figures for Hancock: Ilissa Koehl with 12 points, Kendra Schmidgall with 11 points, and Courtney Greiner with 10 points. Greiner also had the only double-double of the game with her 14 rebounds.
The Rangers shot 48 percent from the field to the Owls' 31, and they also hit 68 percent (15-22) from the free throw line.
Overby and Ostman scored 21 and 15 points, respectively, for Mountain Iron-Buhl. Ostman also had a team-high nine rebounds.
