Update: UMM to host panel discussion on minimum wage
MORRIS – On Thursday, Feb. 6, students from the University of Minnesota, Morris will host a conversation about the minimum wage for the Morris campus and community in the Room 1020, Science Building, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Please note, this is a change in time and location from the previous announcement.
Representatives Ryan Winkler, chair of the Select Committee on Living Wage Jobs, and Jay McNamar, along with a panel of University faculty and staff, will present and moderate a discussion on the implications of the minimum wage in Minnesota and the Morris community.
Community members, regardless of their viewpoints on the minimum wage, are invited to attend.
“Those who can afford lobbyists have already weighed in on these issues in St. Paul, and we know where they stand,” said Winkler. “Our committee is about workers in Minnesota, and we want to hear directly from workers in the Morris area about their jobs—what’s working and what’s not.”
