Area soldiers from the 1-151 Field Artillery Charlie Battery will be returning to Morris late Saturday morning.
Many soldiers from the Morris and surrounding areas comprise Charlie Battery, which has been deployed for about a year for convoy security missions in Kuwait and Iraq. The soldiers currently are at Fort McCoy, in Wisconsin, completing processing work.
Here's the timeline for the welcome home day. Times of events may vary depending on which day the soldiers return:
At 11:45 a.m. Saturday, the soldiers will be escorted to Morris coming in on Highway 28 from the east and will turn at the Highway 59 bypass, then on to Highway 9 through Morris's main street.
The buses will continue to the Morris National Guard Armory to meet family members. The gathering at the armory is is not open to the public.
The soldiers, family and public are invited to the University of Minnesota, Morris PE Center. At about 2:20 p.m., a 25-minute video of the soldiers will be shown.
The Homecoming Ceremony begins at 3 p.m. and is open to the public, which is encouraged to wear red clothing to honor all soldiers who have or are serving.
