Ventura's attorneys say SEAL's book is fabrication

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Attorneys for Jesse Ventura say an ex-Navy SEAL's account of a bar fight involving the former Minnesota governor is "a complete fabrication."

Ventura is suing Chris Kyle in federal court in St. Paul. The former pro wrestler-turned-politician says a claim in Kyle's memoir "American Sniper" about decking him in a 2006 bar fight over unpatriotic remarks defamed him. Kyle's attorneys recently filed a motion seeking to compel Ventura to explain how the account defamed him.

Ventura's lawyers responded to the motion Wednesday, calling Kyle's book "a vicious, deliberate and calculated assault" on Ventura's "character, honor and reputation."

Kyle alleges Ventura said SEALs were killing people in Iraq and "deserved to lose a few." Ventura himself is a former SEAL. The Star Tribune says Kyle's attorneys have filed motions to dismiss two of Ventura's claims.
