Vera Marie Severns, daughter of William and Cora (Swett) Severns, was born July 16, 1921 in Keystone, Neb. She was the 10th of 12 children. Vera grew up in Encampment, Wyo., where she received her education. On July 25, 1938, she was united in marriage to Rossiter Pace "Babe" Jones in Walden, Colorado. The couple lived in Nebraska, Wyoming and South Dakota, prior to making their home in Morris, where they raised their five children, Edward, Kathy, Craig, Shane and Julie. Vera was a housewife and took wonderful care of her family. She made her home in Morris for over 60 years, most recently at the West Wind Village from January 2008 until the time of her death.
Vera was a member of Federated Church in Morris, where she enjoyed quilting. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years, serving as Treasurer and Past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, playing cards, listening to the radio and having coffee with her neighbors. Most precious to Vera were her children and grandchildren. As Vera faced each new phase in her life she was an example of how to endure and be content.
