Violet Mae Batdorf, age 80 of Morris, died on Dec. 29, 2009 at West Wind Village in Morris after a courageous 21 year battle with Parkinson's disease.
Funeral services for Violet Mae Batdorf will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at Atonement Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Friends and relatives may call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Rev. John Kroschel will officiate and burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Violet was born on May 30, 1929 to the late John Einar and Agnetta Justine (Peterson) Erickson in Saginaw. She married Leland C. Batdorf on June 24, 1950 in Saginaw. Violet lived in Morris for the past seven years and had previously resided in St. Cloud. Violet was an active member and volunteer at Atonement Lutheran Church, a volunteer for the St. Cloud Hospital Chaplain's office, and a Laubach tutor for adults learning to read. Her greatest joy was in being a homemaker, mother and grandmother.
Violet is survived by her children, Eric (Becky) of Seattle, Wash., Linda (Jerry) Tickle of Morris, Karen Batdorf of Minneapolis, and Marie (Roger) Byarlay of Seattle, Wash.; brothers, John (Christine) Erickson of Cloquet and Bill (Kathy) Erickson of Cape Coral, Fla.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland, on Dec. 5, 1987.
