Wednesday's Area Weather: Rain may be coming to ease fire danger
Spring really has arrived! The high on Sunday hit 58 degrees in Morris.
On Monday, many locations hit 60 degrees or better for a high with lots of sunshine. The winds were a bit breezy, however.
On Tuesday, plenty of 70s were reported across the state with lots of sunshine. With the beautiful weather, however, there has come an increase in the fire danger across the region. Our lack of moisture has helped area communities and the flooding issues earlier this spring, but now with the lack of moisture, grassland fires could be a big concern. We should get some chances for rain by the mid-week into the weekend, and that should help the situation. Be safe in burning and with matches! Have a great rest of the week.
In 1843 the low temperature dropped at Ft. Snelling to 11 degrees below zero!
Lightning sets about 10,000 forest fires every year in the United States.
