Wheat growers approve higher check-off rate
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota wheat growers have approved a referendum to increase their commodity check-off rate. The vote was 334 to 154 to increase the wheat check-off from one cent per bushel to two cents per bushel. Through the automatic check-off program, farmers pay a percentage of their sale proceeds to their commodity council to support promotion, communication and research activities aimed at increasing their crop value.
