Willmar, Minn., now under winter weather advisory; blizzard warning remains in far western Minn.

WILLMAR — The blizzard warning for the Willmar area has been cancelled and replaced by a winter weather advisory.

Olivia, Granite Falls, Litchfield and Redwood Falls are among the areas now under the advisory.

The National Weather Service Twin Cities office in Chanhassen says additional snow showers are expected. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to near 40 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow. Visibilities may be reduced to less than a mile at times in open areas.

A blizzard warning remains in effectin far western Minnesota, including Benson, Montevideo, Madison Glenwood and Morris.

The Weather Service says far west central Minnesota will continue to experience blizzard conditions through this evening, and strong wind gusts between 40 and 45 mph are still expected west of a line from Sauk Centre to Willmar to Clara City. White-out conditions are still possible in this region.
