WIND CHILL WARNING issued from Wednesday night through Friday noon

The National Weather Service in Chanhassen, Minn., has issued a WIND CHILL WARNING for much of west central Minnesota from tonight through Friday noon. This WIND CHILL WARNING includes the following counties: Stevens, Douglas, Todd, Pope, Stearns, Lac qui Parle, Swift, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Meeker, Yellow Medicine, Renville, McLeod, Sibley, Redwood, Brown, Nicollet, Watonwan, Blue Earth and Martin.

A surge of arctic air will spread across the region tonight. Sub-zero temperatures and brisk northwest winds will combine to create wind chill values of 25 below to 40 below zero across much of Minnesota later tonight. A secondary blast of cold air will stream down Thursday. Dangerous wind chill values of 25 below to 40 below zero will continue across Minnesota and spread into western Wisconsin.

The lowest readings will occur within several hours of dawn on Thursday and Friday mornings. Warmer temperatures and lighter winds will return by Friday afternoon.
