Wind warning issued for west central Minn. through noon today, blizzard warning cancelled

The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has issued a wind chill warning for all of west central Minnesota until noon today. It also issued a wind chill advisory through noon Monday.

The weather service has cancelled the blizzard warning issued Saturday afternoon.

Cold wind chills are forecast for today and tonight, with wind chill values 35 to 45 below. These wind chill values will cause frostbite in minutes.

Arctic air will continue to rush into west central Minnesota behind the departing cold from that moved through the region Saturday night.

This wind chill warning and advisory is for the counties of Douglas, Stevens, Pope, Lac Qui Parle, Swift, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Yellow Medicine, Renville, Redwood, Brown and Watonwan, and includes the cities of Alexandria, Morris, Glenwood, Madison, Benson, Montevideo, Willmar, Granite Falls, Olivia, Redwood Falls, New Ulm and St. James.

A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and Strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values. This Will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.
