Winning streak snapped for Cougar men
The University of Minnesota, Morris men's soccer team had a winning streak snapped on Saturday, as the Bethany Lutheran Vikings picked up the 1-0 win. Morris out shot BLC 22-7, but were unable to beat keeper Noah Heidorn who had eight saves.
Badgie had a great look on goal in the sixth minute, hitting a shot from about 23 yards out, but the keeper leaped up and touched it over the crossbar.
Bethany Lutheran got on the board in the 29th minute when a loose ball bounced in favor of Ryan Behmer and he beat Jacob Borash to his right. Despite the Cougars out shooting the Vikings 10-4 in the first half, BLC took the 1-0 lead into half time.
Scott DeVries hit a shot from 28 yards out, but the Vikings' keeper came up big once again with the save. The Cougars had much of the possession in the second half, but BLC kept UMM at bay.
Minnesota Morris will be back at home next weekend to take on St. Scholastica and Northland in key UMAC contests.
