A neighbor called police at 1:16 a.m. and reported hearing gunshots fired in Countryside Trailer Court, which is east of 25th Street between Fifth and Ninth avenues south.

Officers found five spent 12-gauge shotgun shells on the street and discovered that the mobile home at 635 Countryside Trailer Court had been hit with pellets from at least four shots, Hanson said.

"One of the shots broke a window and then some of the pellets went in and embedded into the wall" in the front bedroom where the children, ages 5 and 7, were sleeping, he said.

The witness who heard the shots saw a man run from the scene and get into a white SUV and drive off, Hanson said. The man was described as a white male wearing a plaid shirt with a bandana on his face.

Police didn't find the SUV and have no suspects at this point, Hanson said.

The 47- and 28-year-old women at the mobile home - who didn't report the incident - told police they didn't know who fired the shots, Hanson said.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Fargo police at (701) 241-1405.
