Workshop Promoting Long-term Care of Land Through Leases and Contracts April 4 in Glenwood
A FLAG attorney will be available to share information about long-term leases and land contracts. After the formal presentation, participants will have an opportunity to sign up for 10- to 15-minute time slots to meet individually with the FLAG attorney. There will also be an opportunity for beginning and retiring farmers to have informal conversations before and after the workshop.
Beginning farmer Ryan Batalden rents land from two landowners in southwest Minnesota. He said the long-term leases he has with the landowners allow him to participate in conservation programs while using production systems that build soil, keep the land certified organic and protect wildlife habitat.
"So, not only have they received great financial value for their investment, but they have received value in other ways that reflect their character and beliefs," said Batalden of the landowners.
There is no charge for this workshop, but please reserve a spot by contacting Nick Olson at 320-269-0157 ornicko@landstewardshipproject.org.
