Area Weather
Unusually warm temps may take a dive after this weekendBy: Mark Anthony, Morris Sun Tribune
This has been quite a week in the weather department!
Temperatures have been about 10 to 15 degrees above average. Alexandria reached 79 degrees on Monday after a morning low of 60 degrees. Tuesday, the temperature hit 79 degrees for a high after a foggy start of 55 degrees that morning.
On Wednesday, we were warm once again, with highs across the area in the 70s and 80s. Morris hit 81 degrees for a high. Those warm temperatures lingered into Thursday and Friday as well.
Expect unseasonably warm air to stay with us into the weekend. Temperatures will again be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
All good things must come to an end, however. Look for cooler air to return with highs in the 50s and 60s for the area on Monday. The good news is that rain will return. We do need the moisture. Enjoy the great summer weather while it is here. Fall starts Tuesday at 4:18 p.m.
WEATHER HISTORY
In 1991 Duluth received 2.5 inches in a late summer snowstorm. Believe it or not, fall was still five days away.
