As of Friday, two incumbents had filed for city seats while no candidates have yet filed for Morris Area School Board seats as of Wednesday. The filing period for city and school elections is Aug. 17
Six total seats on the Morris City Council and the Morris Area School Board will be up for election this fall, and only two candidates had filed for those seats as of Friday.
The filing period for Morris Mayor, Morris City Council and the Morris Area School Board began Tuesday and closes on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
Incumber Mayor Sheldon Giese has filed for reelection to a second term, as has City Council member Jeff Miller. No one has yet filed for the three seats up for election on the school board.
Anyone wishing to file for a city elected seat must do so at Morris City Hall. School board filings are to be completed at the Morris Area's district office in the high school.
The city and school filings are for races in which no primary election is held. Everyone who files will be included on the general election ballot in November.
The primary election for state and county offices is Tuesday, Aug. 10.
In Morris, the seats for Giese, Miller and Twig Webster are up for election this year.
In the Morris Area district, the board seats of Kurt Gartland, Lory Lemke and Mark McNally are up for election.
