Area Weather: Weekend will be nice but showers threaten next week

The Labor Day weekend should be nice but there is a chance for showers next week, which marks the start of the school year

WEATHER HISTORY

On this date in 1894 the Great Hinckley Fire took place. Drought conditions started a massive fire that destroyed Hinckley and Sandstone. Snow from the fire brought shipping on Lake Superior to a standstill.

WEATHER FACT

A kata front is a front where the warm air descends the frontal surface, except in the low layers of the atmosphere.
