Whether it’s for entertainment or for business, blogging is fast becoming a popular way to communicate with friends, relatives and customers.

Want to learn how to do it?

Blogging for Individuals and Businesses is a free, hands-on workshop that will help participants understand this simple, cheap and often effective tool and how to start and manage a blog.

The workshop is Tuesday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to noon at the University of Minnesota, Morris Imholte Hall Computer Lab No. 11.

Ryan Pesch of the University of Minnesota Extension will lead the workshop, and participants will have computers on which to learn the basics.

Morris Sun Tribune Publisher Sue Dieter will also discuss ways people can start free blogs that are featured on the the newspaper’ s Web site and, potentially, on other Forum Communications Co. Web sites throughout Minnesota and the Dakotas.

Workshop topics include:

•What is a blog and why you would use one, both personally and for a business.

•Starting a blog and using its features

•Getting your blog discovered online on search engines such as Google.

The workshop is available free of charge through Blandin Foundation’s Minnesota Intelligent Rural Communities program, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and a grant from the Stevens County Economic Improvement Commission.

While there is no charge, registration is needed. Contact Carolyn Peterson at (320) 585-6700, or rcpeters@fedtel.net.
