Full slate of events for weekend in Hancock

The Hancock Lions would like to invite the public to “honor our heroes” as they celebrate the Fourth of July in Hancock this year.

The majority of events will be held on Monday, July 4. However, a few events will be held over the weekend.

A few events will take place on Saturday, culminating with the annual street dance. The Hancock High School students planning to take a trip to New York City and Washington D.C. next year will hold several fundraising events over the weekend. The first of these is a community car wash near the fire hall. They are asking for a $5 minimum donation for the car wash.

That afternoon, starting a 1 p.m., there will be a volleyball tournament at Buddies. There are also plans for some beer sampling and a hot dog eating contest at Buddies.

“Electric Almighty” will entertain at the Inn Like Flinn street dance starting at 8 p.m. During the dance the students will be selling pork chops on a stick starting at 7 p.m. and going until sold out.

On Sunday Buddies will be hosting Bar Olympics. This is a marathon tournament including five events, bean bags, horseshoe, beer pong, bocce ball and darts. Two-person teams will compete, receiving points for their ranking in each event. You can sign up at the bar with competition beginning at 1 p.m. That evening DJ Durkee will entertain from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Events on Monday, July 4 start out at 7 a.m. with the Firemen Relief Association’s. annual pancake breakfast at the Hancock Community Center. They will be serving until 9:30 a.m.

Registration for the event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 8 a.m. There is no need to pre-register, just sign-up that morning. Prizes will be awarded in several age categories.
