Florence Malland

Florence Einora Malland, daughter of Roy and Bessie Thomas, was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa on September 29, 1917. In March 1929, at age 11 she moved with her family to Framnas Township in Stevens County. She attended school in Cyrus. She married Athel Malland on April 15, 1939 in Milbank, S.D. To this union were born three children: Gary, Linelle, and Darrell. She lived in Hancock for 17 years until recently moving to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. She passed away on November 28, 2009 at the age of 92.

She is survived by two sons, Gary (Pamela) Malland, Watertown, S.D., Darrell (Roxane) Malland, Cyrus, son-in-law Larry Pitts, Hancock, one sister Virginia Walbum, Starbuck, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She is procceeded in death by her parents, husband Athel, daughter Linelle, one sister Bernice Heuer, two brothers Floyd Thomas, and Maynard Thomas, and one granddaughter Anita Pitts.

She dearly loved to be with and helping her family.

Services will be held today (Thursday), Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, Hancock.
