Leann Marie Dick

Leann Marie Dick, age 24, of Onigum passed away at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.

Leann Marie Dick, age 24, of Onigum passed away at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.

She was born on June 3, 1985 in Bemidji to Lester “Wheels” Dick and Carol White. She graduated from Walker Hackensack Akeley High School in 2003. She attended Leech Lake Tribal College graduating valedictorian of Liberal Arts in 2009. Leann continued her Environmental Science Biology degree at the University of Minnesota, Morris. She was active in various academic science programs in college that allowed her to participate in internships that brought her all over the world. Leann enjoyed spending time with her family and reading. She focused most of her attention on her academics.

Leann is survived by her brother Preston John Dick of Onigum, mother Carol White of Onigum, grandmother Shirley A. White of Onigum, four uncles, six aunts, five nephews, numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Lester, maternal grandfather Lyman White, Sr., paternal grandparents Joe and Francis Dick, and four baby cousins.

Visitation for Leann will begin at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Onigum Community Center and continue until the 1 p.m. service Monday, Dec. 7 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Onigum with Rev. John Rock, Rev. Harold

Eaglebull and Intern Ellen Ayers officiating. Internment will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Onigum.

Pallbearers for Leann are Eric Isham, Michael White, Bradley White, Raleigh White, William Dick, Gary White, Bill Bowstring and Lyman White, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Angela Isham, Alicia Bowstring, Carolyn White, Janelle White, Darcie Isham, Danielle Isham, Ashley Harrison, Tallie Large, Rachel Goggleye, Lynda Morrison, Jolene Smith, Celeste Davis, Corrina Jacobs, Roxy Fairbanks, Sara Dunn and Nina Rushmeier.

Arrangements entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker.
