Marczak records three bests at Tiger Invite

All four Hancock track and field boys recorded personal bests in at least one event at the Tiger Invite on Tuesday, April 11 in Morris.

Charlie Marczak recorded personal bests and placed in the top four in all three of his events to lead Hancock to a ninth place finish as a team. The senior collected 20 of Hancock’s 27.75 points on the day.

Marczak took second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.34, which edged his previous personal best by just over half a second. His second place finish in the long jump bested his personal record by almost a foot. He had a best jump of 18-04.75 Tuesday. Marczak also took fourth in the 100-meter dash with a new personal record time of 12.03.

John Kellenberger and Mason Schmidgall also placed in the top five and surpassed their personal bests on the day along with Warren Osterman.

Kellenberger cut over 16 seconds on his mile time for a new personal record and fifth place in the event. He clocked a 5:06.84. The freshman also tied for fourth in the high jump with a 5-01. His personal record in the event is 5-02, which he has cleared the previous two meets.

Schmidgall placed fourth in the triple jump with a season best 37-00, just five inches short of his personal record in the event. He did record a personal best in the 3200-meter run, cracking 12-minute mark, his personal best, by six seconds and finishing in 11:54.

Osterman recorded a new personal best in the shot put with a distance of 31-07, taking down his old mark by over a foot. He also participated in the discus (76-05) and 300-meter hurdles (57.7).

The Owls were at the Minnewaska Invite on Tuesday, April 18 and now travel to Wheaton/Herman-Norcross next Tuesday, April 25.
