Tigers move above .500 with win over Benson
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta improved to 5-4 in the West Central Conference South with an 8-5 win over Benson Thursday at home.
The Tigers never trailed, but had to piece together a three-run inning to move above .500.
Benson tied the game at 5-5 after Luke Schwarz laced a two-run single with two outs in the top half of the fourth. The Tigers answered with three runs in the bottom half of the frame when Tanner Picht had a two-run single of his own and Chandler Erickson singled in Picht.
The Tigers owned a 3-0 lead after two innings when Tyler Henrichs slugged a two-run homer in the second.
Jake Torgerson earned his second win in relief of the week for the Tigers after taking over for Erickson in the fourth. Torgerson has piled up 10 strikeouts without issuing a walk in 8.2 innings of work since Tuesday.
Tyler Krienke singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Braves.
The Tigers had Tommy Holland and Brody Bahr collect two hits each.
