Bits & Pieces - December 17
Sitting in my big stuffed recliner feeling yucky and watching it snow outside and listening to radio and tv telling me the temperature will drop below zero overnight, I'm saying to myself "why is it I live in Minnesota?" I have never been a fan of winter and not feeling well doesn't...

The old saying is "clothes make the person". I wonder if that is still true, considering the way people dress anymore, it is more casual and many times more sloppy. While it is more comfortable, I'm sure, I still like to see people get dressed up, especially for weddings and funerals....

Bits & Pieces -- 9-10-09
I was looking for something in my cupboards the other day and found an opened box of the 10-day Hoodia Diet. It is a dietary supplement, fast-acting and guaranteed to lose weight in 10 days. Of course, I had to buy it. The box contains 30 liquid soft-gels packaged in 3 packs with...

It's that time of year again, where the gardens are producing like crazy and you are trying to find ways to use the produce. Someone asked me not to long ago for my son, Boyd's salsa recipe, while I think it is Kristine's and not Boyd's, I will give it anyway. My kids make this year...

Bits & Pieces Hancock August 20
It all started when I received free tickets for a Twins baseball game. I could choose the day I wanted. When I asked Bruce if he wanted to go to a ball game, he told me to find someone and give them away to them. But I decided I would ask some women if they would like to go to an...

There has been talk of not having spelling anymore, that it isn't important as we are using electronic devices for our communication. While I find that interesting and can understand when we are talking to each other words that sound the same, but are spelled differently don't matter,...

Recently I was in a conversation where we were talking about egg coffee, a seemly lost art. Most younger people would look at you with a puzzled expression as to why you would put egg in coffee. At one time, because of the hard water I suppose, an egg would be added to the grounds...

Bits and Pieces -- Hancock July 23
by Jan Malo Today, I am going to ramble about a couple of different subjects. Forty years ago the United States landed a man on the moon. I guess it is a historical event and should be recognized for it's merit. Personally I don't understand the space program and all of the money...
