A fire destroyed a chunk of Donnelly's business district and left several people homeless on Nov. 2, 1916. The Morris Sun and Morris Tribune had news stories of the fire but scant coverage in the weeks that followed. Headlines instead were dominated by the election, auto and wagon crashes, Christmas gathering and other news. As I paged through those old bound books of 1916 editions of the Sun and Tribune I couldn't help but think of how a fire of that magnitude would play in the news today.
I'm writing in response to Troy Goodnough's senseless matter letters to the editor in the last two issues of the Sun Tribune. On and on about the sky is falling due to the election of Donald Trump as president. Typical liberal, double standard mindset. Liberal Democrats are always emphasizing tolerance, cooperation, understanding, etc. Now you have to practice what you preach. Be tolerant and open-minded enough to give Trump a chance. He might actually be good for America.
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news Weather news: much of the last week has been cold and rainy thankfully so far no major snow. Most of the snow on the ground has melted.
