Anna Hadler of Alberta was named to the Chancellor's List at the University of Minnesota Crookston. To qualify for a place on the Chancellor's List, students must complete 12 or more letter-graded (A-F) credits while attaining a 4.0 grade point average.
An open house bridal shower honoring Angela Halbe (daughter of Steve and Jeanne Halbe of Morris), bride to be of Jeff Boer, will be held on Saturday, June 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Morris Senior Center in Morris. AgCountry Farm Credit Services elects directors Shareholders of AgCountry Farm Credit Services, Fargo, North Dakota have elected Mark Ellison and Kurt Elliott to serve four-year terms on its Board of Directors. Ellison (Elbow Lake) has served on the Board since 1995. He began farming in 1983 and is part of the fifth generation to operate their farm in Grant County which currently raises corn and soybeans. He represents the Minnesota counties of Becker, Big Stone, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Hubbard, Ottertail, Pope, Stevens, Todd, Traverse, Wadena and Wilkin.
ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency warns that Friday air pollution will be dangerous for Minnesotans in the west, central and south. With temperatures expected in the low-to-middle 90s, and mostly sunny skies and light winds, the agency said ozone will be a danger. Ozone is expected to increase to unhealthy levels by 10 a.m., with the problem easing by 9 p.m. The agency warns, however, that ozone levels could increase again Saturday.

DONNELLY — No injuries were reported at a house fire in Donnelly in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 5. The Morris Fire Department was paged out to provide mutual aid to the Donnelly Fire Department at 113 First Street at about 2 a.m. on Sunday. The MFD was on-scene in Donnelly for about 4.5 hours, Morris Fire Chief Dave Dybdal reported. No injuries were reported, however the house suffered severe fire damage, Dybdal said.
Minnesota State Community and Technical College has named 750 students to its President's List for the 2016 spring semester. Area students named to the M State President's List are Alec Gausman and Eden Sauder of Morris, and Cambria Aanerud of Donnelly. To earn this award for scholastic achievement, a student must complete 12 or more college-level credits for the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
