Plaid Pillagers qualify for state Morris Area's FIRST Robotics team, the Plaid Pillagers, have qualified for the MSHSL/FIRST State Championship held on May 21 at Mariucci Arena on the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. Teams qualified for state based on their performance at their initial FIRST Regional competition of the year. For the Pillagers, this meant their third place finish at the Lake Superior Invitational in Duluth was enough to help them break into the top 30 teams in the state and qualify for the state championship.

Mitchell Torgerson of Morris has been awarded a $500 scholarship from Agassiz and Odessa Mutual Insurance Company and Bremer Insurance of Morris. This scholarship is awarded each year to high school seniors in the area who have parents with a farm or home property insurance coverage with Agassiz and Odessa Mutual Insurance Company. Torgerson is the son of Mark and Cindy Torgerson and plans to attend North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota, and study crop production sales and technology.
MORRIS — Morris Area Food Service Manager Bonnie Schmidt has been named National Manager of the Year by the School Nutrition Association. This is considered the highest honor a school nutrition manager can earn and recognizes a cafeteria manager who has demonstrated dedication and ingenuity to improve his or her school meal program.
