The MAHS baseball team defeated Benson 1-0 when Josh Griffith singled in Andy Lembcke in the bottom of the seventh inning to back Chase Rambows one-hit performance on the hill, Monday at Chizek Field. "In a Tiger season characterized by close games, it couldn't get any tighter than this," coach Lyle Rambow said. The Tigers beat conference rival Benson 1-0. Andy Lembcke walked to start the seventh. Up to this point, Benson pitcher Jake Erickson had shown pinpoint control.
May might be a month dedicated to Americas senior citizens, but that doesnt mean the regulars at the Morris Senior Center arent willing to share what they have or what they do. In fact, offering up a cup of coffee to a somewhat younger visitor is the first order of business on a recent morning. Thats the first thing youll hear when you walk in here, said Rita Kaiser, site manager for the Nutrition Services, Inc., which operates out of the Senior Center on Oregon Avenue. Isnt that awesome? Whats awesome is what older Americans have shared and do share with their communities.

As time is running out on this years legislative session, the Twins, Vikings, and Gophers are turning up the heat to get a new stadium. NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue was in town Tuesday lobbying for Zygi and the Vikings. Former Gopher and current coach of the Indianapolis Colts Tony Dungy was brought in by the Gophers to lobby for their new stadium. The Twins have paraded former players through the Capitol saying we need a new outdoor stadium for baseball. Why are the Timberwolves sitting this one out? Dont they want a new stadium too?
University of Minnesota, Morris football coach Ken Crandall has announced that 16 student-athletes have said they will play football for the Cougars beginning with the 2006 season. Of the players committed, 14 are high school seniors while two are transfers. All nine are from Minnesota. Coach Crandall says We are really beginning to hit our recruiting stride in the Division III arena.
15 Years Ago May 7, 1991 Sun Patty Wetterling is probably the states most visible mother. She brought her message of hope for her son, Jacob, and concern for all children to Morris last Friday as she talked about some of the dangers children face and what adults can do to watch for those dangers. Wetterling, whose talk was sponsored by the Stevens County Childcare Association, talked about Teaching Children Safety Without Fear. About 300 parents and children heard her talk at the MAHS auditorium. Bradley W.
Rhubarb! You love it or you hate it. I remember kids coming into the house to get a bowl of sugar and head for the rhubarb plants. I really do like it, and recently even bought some frozen. So, I thought I'd pass along some rhubarb recipes. RHUBARB RAISIN CRISP 5 C. sliced fresh or frozen rhubarb (I didn't use that much) 1/2 C. plus 2 Tbs. all-purpose flour, divided 1/2 C. raisins 3/4 C. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 C. packed brown sugar 1/3 C. quick-cooking oats 1/3 C. cold butter or margarine Combine rhubarb and 2 Tbs. flour; place in a greased 8-9" square baking dish.
Kindergarten: The kinder kids are busy reviewing all their letters, numbers and words. We had our spring concert on Thursday night and sang our little hearts out. We also got to learn from the EMTs and we treated ourselves to ice cream and lollipops at the UMM. We only have five more days of school left. Grade 1: The first grade went to the Ice Cream and Lollipops Childrens Art Exhibit on Thursday. Our art exhibit was a mural of the story Pig Pig Grows Up by David McPhail. We enjoyed being part of the spring concert on Thursday evening. On Friday the Stevens County E.M.T.
