Thank you, Morris Throughout my life, countless students, with no small amount of pride, have told me about the various teachers they've "scared away" from their schools and careers. Although my absence this fall among the Morris Area High School faculty might come as a surprise to some of you, please know that this was definitely not the case with me. Over the course of this all-too-fleeting summer, I've had a number of students, parents, and faculty members ask me about why I had to make the decision to leave.
Farm Bureau says thanks What a great celebration at the fair last weekend. Our county is fortunate to have such a fantastic fair board. Each year they seem to make the fair better and bigger. Our county Farm Bureau especially appreciates the help and support Steve Storck and his fellow board members provided for our candidate forum. Congressman Peterson, Lee Byberg, Scott Dutcher and Jay McNamar each appreciated the opportunity to attend our county fair and speak to our citizens.
Not taking district technology comments personally I am writing this letter with a feeling of much disappointment and betrayal after reading the following published in an article June 29, 2012 in the Morris Sun Tribune: "'I think based on what I've learned through this process, [Lien] stepped into a situation in Laporte that's very similar to ours - a little bit of chaos and disorganization and inconsistency - and has really established a really good technology plan and program there,' Monson told the board." I feel the need to write a little rebuttal to it.
Kids need jobs: An issue parents should consider Kids in Morris need summer jobs. When kids get to a certain age, their parents stop buying things for them so they need to find jobs. Fo r example, I'm writing this story to get a job in the paper. I know they do lemonade stands, but I mean for the bigger kids. Even mall things like sweeping up the floors in a restaurant. Things like that, kids need jobs. Kids need money so they can buy things they need like phones, computers, and maybe other things they want. You can buy some stuff now and save the rest.
Field trials of interest to our community I called your office and talked to Kim Ukura eight days ago to suggest that the paper may want to cover the West Central Minnesota Retriever Club Field Trial here in Morris 7/20/12 - 7/22/12. I am in no way affiliated with the trial, but I think it's of interest to our community. There are 106 dogs out there and at least 300 owners, trainers and handlers SUFFERING in this great weather we're enjoying, meanwhile accomplishing amazing results in their sport. Many have been here for over a week.
Thanks for help at annual book sale Thank you to everyone who helped make the Friends of the Morris Public Library annual book sale a great success again this year. Thank you to everyone who donated books, helped set up and run the sale, or shopped at our sale.
UMM looks like a million bucks I've been walking through the shady UMM campus these hot and muggy days and I have been struck by how exceptionally good everything looks: the lawns neatly mowed, the flowers beautiful, everything tidy and in order, the atmosphere comfortable and relaxed. May I suggest to the people of the area that they take a look for themselves. It is good to appreciate the hard (and hot) work it has taken staff and student workers to produce this pleasant atmosphere. It's a small campus of a big university, but it looks like a million bucks.
And justice for all... We find it intriguing that Dr. O'Reilly criticized the Stevens County Board of Commissioners for standing by their initial decision on the Zoning Ordinance Amendment. It is apparent to us that the only thing flawed in this process was Dr. O'Reilly's memory. He must have forgotten that the Planning Commission met with his wife during this publicly addressed meeting directly after we did.
One thing they do not want free Liberals claiming that the poor would be kept from voting if we got voter ID cards is total hogwash! We're all entitled to our own opinions but we are not entitled to our own facts! Minnesota has the most voter fraud of any state and I can prove it! Voter fraud is likely why Obama, Dayton and Franken won the last election and Democrats are extremely opposed to ending fraud. Some may respond claiming that I am a liar, racist, and hate-monger but they're wrong!
Writing about respect I am writing about respect. My family and I have been living by Wells Park for nine years. We really like living by the park. We enjoy the access to the playground and the ball fields. We like watching our sons playing in the Summer Rec programs and Little League. What we do not like is the lack of respect of some of the players, parents and their children. Three years ago, two players from the Twins team urinated on a tree of ours three feet away from our garden and ten feet away from our house.
