Candidate says thank you I would like to take this time to thank everyone that supported and voted for me in the past election. I also would like to thank the Morris Sun Tribune for its support with the endorsement I got from you prior to the election. As Stevens County moves forward I hope our new District 2 Commissioner will enter into this with an open mind. We are in a time when tough sound decisions will need to be made that will affect all of us. As I stopped at residences before the election I found that a lot of people had no clue what commissioner district they lived in.
Wonderful response to fire Recently, we experienced a house fire. Although many things were saved, it was a devastation we had never dealt with before. The love and support we received after this tragedy was truly amazing. Neighbors, friends, teachers, acquaintances and strangers banded together in a way we have never witnessed. The people of this small town are wonderful and we are blessed beyond measure to know you. Thank you to all who helped in our time of need.
Gone cancer! I am so proud to see the use of the color pink throughout the country in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The volleyball team of Morris Area-Chokio-Alberta looked wonderful in their pink shirts. Wow! Pink hair extensions by the beauty salons were great to promote the cause, also, as were the pink cupcakes shaped into a pink ribbon at Willie's Super Valu. And did you see the use of pink at Minnesota Vikings' games? Go Vikings!
Editor's note: This in the final issue of the Sun Tribune in which Letters to the Editor related to election races will be published before the Nov. 2 election. Any need for rebuttal letters will be left to the discretion of the Sun Tribune editorial staff. Westrom's right on life issues The federal health care package now being unveiled, bit by bit, holds many unknowns. However, we do know that at least som abortions will be covered by our tax monies and end of life decisions could end up in the hands of a committee.
Editor's note: The Sun Tribune will publish Letters to the Editor related to election races until Saturday, Oct. 23. The letters policy for the length of election letters is 300 words.
Editor's note: The Sun Tribune will publish Letters to the Editor related to election races until Saturday, Oct. 23. The letters policy for election letters is 300 words. Letters exceeding the limit may be edited. Storck is best pick in District 2 I urge you to vote for Steve Storck for Stevens County Commissioner for District 2. I know Steve will do a terrific job as a commissioner, just as he has done as president of the Stevens County Agricultural Society, also known as the fair board.
Looking for stolen signs On my morning walk on Saturday, I was disappointed to see that all of the lawn signs along East 7th Street supporting the DFL-endorsed candidates for office were stolen. Coincidentally, none of the yard signs supporting Torrey Westrom were removed.
Smith is right for 11A There is no doubt the timing is right for new representation for West Central Minnesota. I just finished reading Torrey Westrom's four page personal advertisement. This self- serving propaganda is quite concerning if you actually read through it. He talks about helping education, and all you have to do is talk to a local educator to find out Torrey has done nothing to help education in Minnesota. In fact, along with Gov.
Peterson needs to be retired Incessant spending, expansion of government, utter disregard for our Constitution and the will of the people which our current Congress, under the extreme left leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have been engaging in, serving as a rubber stamp for President Barack Obama's socialistic agenda, has caused a sleeping giant to wake up and take notice. We need to unseat incumbents who are enhancing the present move toward socialism.
Theft takes fair fun away I am writing this letter with a knot in my stomach. I had taken some exhibits to the Stevens county fair for my dad this past week. He does some painting on saw blades and other items which I really enjoy looking at as having someone who can do things like this in my family is a blessing. We thought it would be a good idea to bring them to the fair for others to enjoy, but to our dismay when we got to the fair on Sunday to pick them up we had found that someone had stolen one.
