The following area students were among the 1,719 students to graduate from North Dakota State University in spring 2015: Joshua Taylor of Morris (BS in public relations and advertising); Katlyn Blackwelder of Chokio (BS in public relations and advertising with honors); and Abigail Ascheman (BS in accounting), Shem Baker (BS in criminal justice) and Mitchell Grunig (Master of Education in counseling) from Hancock. Samuel Matson, son of Paul and Sarah Mattson of Morris, and Marlee Morton, daughter of Douglas and RaNae Morton of Morris, have been named to the Dean's Honor List at Concordia C
John Huebner, son of Mark and Mary Huebner, is the recipient of the Presidential Distinction Scholarship and a Music Performance Scholarship from Concordia College of Moorhead.
Stevens Community Medical Center transitioning to electronic health records Stevens Community Medical Center will begin transitioning to an electronic charting format in the clinic. The organization has chosen eClinicalWorks (eCW) as the electronic medical record software vendor. With eCW, staff members will be able to print a visit summary for our patients. It is important that patients have all of the information related to their care.
Brad Barth named West Central Initiative President/CEO Brad Barth has been named president/CEO of West Central Initiative by the WCI Board of Directors. He will begin his duties with WCI in July. Reporting to the WCI Board, Barth will lead, direct and manage the organization and guide its strategic direction. He will also serve as WCI's chief spokesperson and represent the west central region to the greater state of Minnesota. "Brad is a proven leader who is prepared to continue the excellent work of WCI," said Dean Simpson, chair of the WCI Executive Search Committee.

Local Dale Carnegie graduates recognized Dale Carnegie Training would like to recognize the 2015 Morris Dale Carnegie Course graduates. A special acknowledgement goes to Travis Meyer as he has won the Highest Award for Achievement for his participation in the Dale Carnegie Course recently completed in Morris, Minn. The recipient for the award is voted on by class members upon completion of the course series.
BPA has successful trip to state conference The Morris Area chapter of the Business Professionals of America earned two Outstanding Achievement Awards at the State Leadership Conference in Minneapolis on March 12 to 14. The chapter was recognized for their outstanding work with the Special Olympics, and for BPA Marketing and Public Relations. Peter Schneider was awarded Statesman of the Year as part of the Torch Awards Program. Additionally, many chapter members competed at the leadership conference.
UMM among Green Ribbon Schools Sustainability Awardees The University of Minnesota, Morris is among the the 2015 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools (ED-GRS) Postsecondary Sustainability Awardees. Nine colleges and universities were honored for the first-ever Postsecondary Sustainability Award. Morris was nominated for the ED-GRS award by the Minnesota Department of Education.
