BPA has successful trip to state conference The Morris Area chapter of the Business Professionals of America earned two Outstanding Achievement Awards at the State Leadership Conference in Minneapolis on March 12 to 14. The chapter was recognized for their outstanding work with the Special Olympics, and for BPA Marketing and Public Relations. Peter Schneider was awarded Statesman of the Year as part of the Torch Awards Program. Additionally, many chapter members competed at the leadership conference.
UMM among Green Ribbon Schools Sustainability Awardees The University of Minnesota, Morris is among the the 2015 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools (ED-GRS) Postsecondary Sustainability Awardees. Nine colleges and universities were honored for the first-ever Postsecondary Sustainability Award. Morris was nominated for the ED-GRS award by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Christina Thooft, daughter of Tom and Susan Thooft of Cyrus, was named with highest honors to the 2015 spring semester dean's list at University of Northwestern — St. Paul. The dean's list includes full-time students with a grade point average (GPA) during the semester of 3.65 (out of 4.0) or higher. Highest honors are awarded to students with a GPA of 3.90 to 4.0. St.
Rachel Moser of Morris was among the 376 students who participated in the Augustana College commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 23. Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., is a selective, residential, comprehensive college of the Lutheran Church. Matthew Munsterman, son of Troy and Lori Munsterman of Morris received the North Dakota State University Freshman Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes high academic achievement.
The following Morris area students were among the more than 2,000 students eligible to receive degrees from the University of North Dakota this spring: Melissa Ascheman (Bachelor of Science in nursing, Cum Laude), Katie Huot (Master of Occupational Therapy,), Kelly Mahoney (Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude),Travis Rinkenberger (Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude). Alexander McIntosh, son of Alisande Allaben of Morris participated in the commencement ceremony at Saint John's University on May 10 in the Saint John's Abbey and University Church, Collegeville, Minnesota.
UMM faculty and staff honored at 2015 Recognition Dinner The University of Minnesota, Morris 2015 Faculty and Staff Recognition Dinner was held on Thursday, April 30. Hosted by Chancellor Jacqueline R. Johnson, the event provided the campus community an opportunity to congratulate faculty and staff award recipients and to thank retirees for their service to the Morris campus.
Local Dale Carnegie graduates recognized Dale Carnegie Training would like to recognize the 2015 Morris Dale Carnegie Course graduates. A special acknowledgement goes to Travis Meyer as he has won the Highest Award for Achievement for his participation in the Dale Carnegie Course recently completed in Morris, Minn. The recipient for the award is voted on by class members upon completion of the course series.
