Funeral services for Earl Severance of Herman, Minnesota will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend Jennifer Rose will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Herman. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets. Earl LeRoy Severance, son of Merle and Lewellia (Voges) Severance, was born August 20, 1926 in Slayton.
Ronald Edward Banister was born Nov. 14, 1932 in Hoff Township, Pope County, the son of Harry Herlas and Julia F. (Gunderson) Banister. He was confirmed at West Zion Lutheran Church. He attended grade school at District #57 in Hoff Township, Pope County, and graduated from Hancock High School, Hancock, with the Class of 1950. On May 13, 1955, Ronald was united in marriage to Devon Maanum at East & West Zion Lutheran Parsonage by Rev. L.C. Anderson. They were blessed with four children and 55 years of marriage. Ronald worked at Jacobson-Peterson Implement for 23 1/2 years.
Ronald Lawson, age 63, passed away Feb. 24, 2011 at his home in Golden CO. Memorial Services will be held March 19 in Colorado. Ron was born July 9, 1947 in Morris, and is the son of Ida Lawson and the late Floyd Lawson. Ron graduated from Alberta High School. He left the rural Alberta farm life and moved to Minneapolis where he began his career in heavy equipment and auto body paint and repair. Ron served his country as an AP (Air Police) in the Air Force from 1967-1971. He spent one year of his service on an isolated base in Turkey and three years in Minot N.D.
Funeral services for Burdell Barsness of Cyrus will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, with Reverend John R. Smith officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Scandia West Cemetery, rural Cyrus. Burdell Lawrence Barsness, son of Carl Barsness and Betsey (Lerdahl) Barsness, was born Dec. 29, 1917 in Walden Township in Pope County. He grew up in New Prairie Township and attended rural country school.
Larry W. Rohloff, age 66, of Atwater, died Saturday morning, February 26, 2011 at Rice Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be at Bethany Cemetery near Starbuck later this spring. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at the Atwater Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Larry Wayne Rohloff was born on Jan. 2, 1945, on the family farm near Holloway, the son of Wayne W.G. and Vera G. (Stock) Rohloff.
Lloyd Gust Stier, age 65, of Donnelly, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at the Minneapolis VA Hospital of congestive heart failure after battling heart disease since 1988. Lloyd was born on September 15, 1945, to Clifford and Anna (Vleiger) Stier. Lloyd attended country school and then graduated from Morris High School in 1963. Lloyd joined the US Air Force in 1965 receiving his basic training in Biloxi, MS and then was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas working in security.
Ann Marie (Zeltwanger) Meiss was born on Oct. 14, 1919 to William and Lillian (Eisenmann) Zeltwanger in Hancock, and left her earthly home at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka to be with her Lord on Sunday, Feb 20. Ann was a big help with the family as the eldest of 11 children and graduated valedictorian from Hancock High School. Ann recognized her need for a Saviour and crowned Jesus the King of her life in 1938. She was baptized in the Morris church and has been faithful to her confession of faith. She moved to Peoria, Ill.
Louis J. "Van" Van Hee, age 95, former Morris resident, died Feb. 15, 2011 at his home in San Diego, Calif. He and his wife of 70 years, Roni, owned the DelMonico Café 1963 to 1970, and after selling "The Del", they moved to San Diego and have lived there for the past 40 years. Van was a member of the Pomme de Terre Country Club and golfed there several times a week. Three of their children graduated from UMM--Steve, Mary Jo and Jim. They survive him, as well as his wife Roni and their daughter, Nancy, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Marcella Hottovy of Morris, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Peter VanderWeyst will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and a Christian Mothers Rosary to follow at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris. Marcella Alice Hraban, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Krenk) Hraban, was born Aug.
Rob (Bob) Smith, a man of compassion and generosity, died unexpectedly at his home in Lake George, Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011. He was 61. Rob was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was a longtime Morris resident. Smith overcame marked physical disabilities to make contributions to many individuals' lives. The hole that Rob has left in his untimely passing will not easily be filled. Robert Smith was born in Morris, on Nov. 30, 1949 to William J. (Bill) and Vivian E. Smith. He was raised in Morris, graduated from Morris High School in 1967 and from UMM in 1974.
