Donna Mae Abler died on Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Hoffman, having lived to reach the age of 67 years. Funeral services for Donna Abler of Hibbing, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend Ali Boomershine will be officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee, Wis. www.pedersenfh.com
Funeral services for Lucille Scribner of Morris will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at West Wind Village in Morris. Deacon Stan Hennen will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the nursing home on Thursday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris. Lucille Gertrude Cook, daughter of Perry and Celina (Disselbret) Cook, was born March 21, 1926 in Rendsville Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. She attended Chokio/ Alberta Area Schools. On January 19, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ernest Scribner in Staples, Minnesota.
Gladys (Mrs. Gordon) Osterloh, age 67, Wilmot passed away Sept. 9, 2010 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral was Sept. 14 at Wilmot Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Wilmot Cemetery. Music was provided by Janice Vreim, organist and Jerry Niles, vocalist. Casketbearers were: Curtis Osterloh, Don Osterloh, Paul Madsen, James Madsen, Jon Madsen, Gary Weeden, Zachary Arnold, Gabriel Arnold, Peter Arnold, Roman Reinart, and Kleon Kvatum. Gladys Grace Madsen was born July 18, 1943, to Earl and Norma (Backman) Madsen on her grandparents farm in rural Roberts County, S.D.
Mitchell James Brethorst was born on May 16, 1975, in Manitowoc, Wis., the son of Harold (Skip) and Kathleen (DeCamp) Brethorst. He was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders, Wis. and then moved with his family to Brandon. Mitch graduated from Brandon High School in 1994. After graduation, he went custom combining in Oklahoma and then worked for his Uncle John Brethorst in Chokio as a farm hand. Mitch started his own excavating business in 1996. He purchased Miles Tiling in 2003 and worked throughout Western Minnesota, Eastern North Dakota and South Dakota.
Funeral services for Phyllis Peterson of Morris will be held Friday, September 17, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Tim Baltes will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Frog Lake Cemetery, rural Alberta. Phyllis Joan Peterson was born Feb. 23, 1940 to Ralph and Harriet (Kolden) Bachel in Morris. She grew up on a farm south of Alberta where she had many friends; people as well as animals.
Evelyn L. Leuthard, age 100, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at the Grace Home in Graceville. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Church in Johnson, with the Pastor Eugene Andrus officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial is at Summit Cemetery in Morris. Evelyn was born Aug. 22, 1910 to Jacob and Lydia (Trost) Zimmerman on a farm north of Chokio in Everglade Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Johnson. Memorial services for Selmer "Sammy" Olson of Hancock will be held Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Reverend Julius Miller will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, MN. Selmer Arnold Olson, son of Harold and Caroline (Sevelson) Olson, was born Sept. 21, 1918 in Vanhook, N.D. Sammy's family moved to Clontarf, three days later, where they lived and farmed.
Francis Doll, 92, of Henning, formerly of Deer Creek, died on Wednesday Sept. 8, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday Sept. 13, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henning with Pastor Randy Maland officiating. Music is provided by Diane Gutknecht, organist and Steve Young, vocalist. Honorary Pallbearers are: Tina Juvrud, Sara Schelske, Becky Struck, Beverly Fields, Sara Zuelow, Dawn Klimek, Jenny Davison, Liz Doll, Jessi Doll, Jamie Toftum, Janelle Doll, Amanda Fritz, and Amber Porter.
Patricia Schmidtbauer, age 66 of Alexandria, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010. Funeral sevices for Patricia Schmidtbauer will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery at Camp Ripley. Gerald Francis Bedel was born Aug. 4, 1943 in Morris to Vincent and Alta Bedel. Gerald passed away Sept. 6, 2010 in Boise, Idaho. Jerry grew up in Minnesota and attended Morris High School and after graduation in 1964, he joined the Army. After serving in the military he moved to California and went to work for Sears for the next 21 years. He met and married the love of his life Paulette Butler, July 4, 1969 and they moved to Seattle, Wash. In 1975 they were blessed with a baby girl they named Kimberly. Kim was the apple of her Dad's eye. He was a very proud father.
