Funeral services for Arnie Kolden Jr. of Alberta, were held Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Rev. Ali Boomershine officated. Arnold Allen Kolden, son of Arnold Sr. and Betty (Beebe) Kolden, was born July 25, 1954 in Morris, where he was baptized October, 1954 by Rev. L. Larson and confirmed September, 1970 by Rev. Grindland at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Arnie began his schooling at Alberta Grade School and then attended Chokio-Alberta High School, where he graduated on May 20, 1972. He continued his schooling at Canby Technical College for Auto Mechanics.
Funeral services for Raymond Murphy of Alexandria, will be held Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Tim Baltes will be officiating. Visitation will be held at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris. Raymond Dennis Murphy, son of William and Mary (Dewane) Murphy, was born July 1, 1931 in Morris. Raymond grew up on a farm in Horton Township and graduated from West Central School of Agriculture in 1949.
Virgil A. Carlson, age 86 of Willmar, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar is handling arrangements. Virgil Arline Carlson was born on March 18, 1924 in Morris, the daughter of Albert and Cornelia (Jacobson) Anderson. She grew up in Morris and graduated from Morris High School.

Funeral services for Helen Stenson of Hancock was held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Rev. Julius Miller will be officiating. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Helen Louise Sloneker, daughter of William and Alma (Weilder) Sloneker, was born April 10, 1919 in Horton Township in Stevens County, where she grew up and began her schooling at Country School District #16 through the 8th grade. For the next four years, Helen continued her education at West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, where she met her future husband.
Funeral services for LaVern Kenneth Asmus of St. Cloud, formerly of Morris will be held Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Rev. Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery in the spring. LaVern Kenneth Asmus, son of Walter and Hazel (Miles) Asmus, was born May 7, 1922 in Chokio, where he grew up and attended school. On May 14, 1944, he was united in marriage to Lila Wollin.
Lloyd Volker, 92, Barrett, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Johnson's Adult Care Home, rural Barrett. Funeral services for Lloyd Volker will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Peace Lutheran Church, Barrett, with the Rev. Matthew Rose officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Herman. Visitation is Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman and resumes one hour before the service at the church. Lloyd Fredrick Volker was born on May 27, 1918, in Delaware Township, Grant County, Minnesota, the son of William and Zena (DeVries) Volker.
Lorraine Nietzel, age 90 of Princeton, and formerly of Benson, passed away January 6, 2011. Lorraine was born on July 30, 1920 to William and Margaret (Frahm) Johannsenin Pipestone County. She graduated from the West Central School of Agriculture High School in Morris, with the class of 1939. Lorraine married Melvin C. Nietzel in Las Vegas, Nev. on November 28, 1941. The couple lived in numerous places throughout the world as Melvin was career military personnel. Lorraine was a homemaker for her family.
Richard (Dick) Kleespies was born in Morris on Feb. 29, 1940 to Lawrence and Dorothy (Roles) Kleespies. He attended St. Mary's School and the West Central School of Agriculture. For several years Dick farmed with his father on the family farm and worked as a mechanic in Morris. He moved to San Bernardino, Calif. in 1963 and was united in marriage to Janice Skille on Feb. 27, 1965. They have one son, John Richard Kleespies.
Roger Bernard Leuty, 64, of Steinauer, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at his home in Steinauer, Nebraska surrounding by his family. He was born on May 15, 1946 to George and Wenona (Struck) Leuty Jr. in Morris, Minnesota. He attended Morris High School and enjoyed wrestling and went to state. He enlisted in the Army and served in Germany. He worked in the Ford Plant and worked construction in Minneapolis. On October 28, 1967 he Married Linda Mjaanes at the First Presbyterian Church in Edina, Minnesota.
