Funeral services for Lois Bell of Hancock was held Monday, June 28, 2010 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Reverend Julius Miller officiated. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Lois Maxine Huntley, daughter of Max and Emma (Hultander) Huntley, was born Nov. 28, 1926 in Moore Township in Stevens County. She began attending School District #45 and graduated from Hancock High School in 1944. Following her graduation, Lois continued her education at Northwestern Hospital Nursing Cadet Corp where she received her RN degree.
Donna Lou Moen, age 79 of Monticello and formerly of St. Cloud, passed away at Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo on Friday June 25, 2010. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello. Donna was born on September 19, 1930 in Graceville to Walter and Elsie (Wallotz) Brunkow. She grew up on a farm near Chokio. She graduated from Chokio High School. She was married to Floyd Anderson and the couple had six children. Following Floyd's death, Donna was married to Mark Moen.
Memorial services for Elsie Mattson will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Beardsley, MN with Rev. Glen Schultz officiating. Burial will be at a later time. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church in Beardsley. Elsie Hermione (Graumann) Mattson, the daughter of Herman and Louise (Weber) Graumann was born September 4, 1915 south of Beardsley, MN on the family farm. She attended school in Beardsley through the eighth grade. She then stayed home and helped her father on the farm and her mother with her brothers and sisters.
Harry Elwood Westberg, 87, Hoffman, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, with his daughters at his side in the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis following complications of a vertebral fracture. Harry was born on the family farm in Land Township near Hoffman, Minnesota, on November 28, 1922, the son of Paul and Lydia (Johnson) Westberg. One of six children, he grew up on the farm where he learned the lessons of hard work, integrity, and perseverance which would serve him for the rest of his life. Harry was baptized and confirmed in Bethel Lutheran Church in Hoffman.
Charles I. Heinrich, 90, formerly of Morris, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in Sheridan, Wyo. Funeral services are pending with Zniewski Funeral Home Vaala Chapel and the First Lutheran Church of Morris. Charles I. Heinrich was born Aug. 25, 1919 on a farm near Donnelly. He attended country school until the 8th grade and then continued to help his parents on the farm for a number of years. He married Grace Johnson Sept. 3, 1946 at the First Lutheran Church in Morris.
Funeral services for Bethel Vollmers of Morris, formerly of Chokio will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. Reverend Robert Jarvis will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Dumont, MN. Bethel Marcella Schumacher, daughter of Ernest and Julia (Dobberstein) Schumacher, was born January 27, 1921 in Claire City, South Dakota.
A memorial services for Jean Doren Leuthard, who died May 7, 2010, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chokio. A light luncheon will be held at St. Mary's Parish Hall at 1 p.m., prior to the graveside services.
Funeral services for Byron Holman of Donnelly, will be held Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Tim Baltes will be officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Funeral services for Maxine Blasing of Hancock, will be held Thursday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Reverend Julius Miller will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Maxine (Tootie) Dayle Blasing was born on October 1, 1926 in Hancock, the daughter of John and Matilda (Hendrickson) Suhrbier. Maxine grew up in Hancock and was an active member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church. Maxine attended Hancock School and graduated in 1944.
A memorial gathering for Dominick Nigro of Morris will be held Friday, July 2, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. At 5:00 PM there will be a time to share memories and stories about Dominick. We hope you will be able to attend to help us honor his life and help us say goodbye. Dominick Charles "Jun" Nigro, Jr, son of Dominick and Catherine (Petrino) Nigro, was born January 31, 1926 in Buffalo, New York, where he grew up on 380 Maryland Street. He was baptized on April 30, 1926 and confirmed at a later date at Holy Cross R. C. Church in Buffalo.
