David Murdock died on Sept. 27, 2010 in Morris. David was born Dec. 4, 1985 in Brainerd. His parents are Chris and Cyndi Murdock of Baxter. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2. from 1-1:30 in Franklin Auditorium, Franklin Art Center, 1001 Kingwood St., Brainerd, MN 56401. Elizabeth J. Payne, age 79 of Starbuck, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 at Glacial Ridge Health Services in Glenwood. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood, with Father Peter Kirchner Officiating. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Catholic Church Cemetery in De Graff, MN. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, where there will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris, MN Viola Florence Retzlaff, daughter of Paul and Annie (Perkins) Retzlaff, was born July 9, 1915 in Swan Lake Township in Stevens County, Minnesota, where she grew up and began her schooling. On May 4, 1939, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Thompson in South Dakota.
Funeral services for Joseph Wagner of Morris will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Arthur Montgomery will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at St. Gall's Catholic Cemetery in Tintah, MN. Military rites will be provided by the Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard. Joe Wagner was born at home in Traverse County to Nick and Mary (Koltes-Watry) Wagner on July 19, 1920.

Military Honors will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets. Ludwig Carl "Sarge" Pochardt son of Bert and Louise (Reimann) Pochardt, was born Sept. 17, 1916 in Lynd. He grew up in Johnson, and was baptized in Island Lake, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Donna Mae Abler died on Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Hoffman, having lived to reach the age of 67 years. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the nursing home on Thursday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris. Lucille Gertrude Cook, daughter of Perry and Celina (Disselbret) Cook, was born March 21, 1926 in Rendsville Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. She attended Chokio/ Alberta Area Schools. On January 19, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ernest Scribner in Staples, Minnesota.
Gladys (Mrs. Gordon) Osterloh, age 67, Wilmot passed away Sept. 9, 2010 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral was Sept. 14 at Wilmot Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Wilmot Cemetery. Music was provided by Janice Vreim, organist and Jerry Niles, vocalist. Casketbearers were: Curtis Osterloh, Don Osterloh, Paul Madsen, James Madsen, Jon Madsen, Gary Weeden, Zachary Arnold, Gabriel Arnold, Peter Arnold, Roman Reinart, and Kleon Kvatum. Gladys Grace Madsen was born July 18, 1943, to Earl and Norma (Backman) Madsen on her grandparents farm in rural Roberts County, S.D.
Mitchell James Brethorst was born on May 16, 1975, in Manitowoc, Wis., the son of Harold (Skip) and Kathleen (DeCamp) Brethorst. He was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders, Wis. and then moved with his family to Brandon. Mitch graduated from Brandon High School in 1994. After graduation, he went custom combining in Oklahoma and then worked for his Uncle John Brethorst in Chokio as a farm hand. Mitch started his own excavating business in 1996. He purchased Miles Tiling in 2003 and worked throughout Western Minnesota, Eastern North Dakota and South Dakota.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Frog Lake Cemetery, rural Alberta. Phyllis Joan Peterson was born Feb. 23, 1940 to Ralph and Harriet (Kolden) Bachel in Morris. She grew up on a farm south of Alberta where she had many friends; people as well as animals.
