A private family service will be held for Sally Anderson at a later date. On Oct. 17, 2010, at the age of 71, Solveigh "Sally" Anderson entered the sweet beyond, a beautiful place filled with love, peace and harmony. She was born on Feb. 22, 1939, the daughter of Florella "Alice" and Glenn Hanson. She grew up with her beloved sister Sondra "Sandy" Hanson in Dawson. As a child, Sally became a talented piano player and sang with a voice as beautiful as her heart. She was also very artistic and loved to draw and sketch.
Funeral services for Donald DeGier of Starbuck will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Elton Hallauer will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Donald LeRoy DeGier, son of Peter and Ella (Biesterfeld) DeGier, was born May 9, 1927 in Hancock, where he was baptized on May 29, 1927 by Rev. W. F. Sprengeler and confirmed on June 6, 1943 by Reverend H. C.
Florence Wendt, age 95 of Morris, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 16. Funeral services for Florence Wendt will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Hosanna Worship Center in Morris. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the church. Survivors are her daughter Joyce Wendt of Morris and her son Roger Wendt of Morris. Jimmie Gabbard, formerly of Morris died on October 14, 2010 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 65 years old. Memorial services will be held in Florida. He is survived by his wife: Carol Gabbard of Tucson, AZ and seven children.
Funeral services for Thomas McRoberts will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Visitation is one hour before the service. Lunch will be served afterward at the church. Thomas McRoberts passed away Oct. 11, 2010 peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends. Tom was born on Feb. 20, 1946 in Morris to Elizabeth and Raymond McRoberts. He attended Benilde Catholic High School and proceeded on to the University of Minnesota, Morris.
Funeral services for David Bartell of Cyrus, will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10:30 am at the First Baptist Church in Morris. Reverend Elmer Cox and Reverend Curly Werth will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, October 15 from 4 to 7 pm at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the Eden Reformed Cemetery near Herman. David Roylan Bartell, son of Fred and Elnora (Hilbrand) Bartell, was born April 10, 1931 at Applington, Iowa.
Funeral services for 83 year old Helen Anna Moen will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison with Kirk Meseck officiating at the service. Special music will be provided by Linda Anderson, organist and Nancy Moen, soloist and Karen Moen as pianist. Mr. Melvin L. Foss, 93, of Barrett, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the Prairie Ridge Hospital, Elbow Lake. Funeral services for Melvin Foss will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett with the Rev. Matthew Rose officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Barrett. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Peace Lutheran Church with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will resume one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Melvin Leonard Foss was born Sept. 20, 1917, in Cyrus, to Martin and Lena (Mithun) Foss.
John Lesley Mason, 72, resident of Brandy Station, Va. went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010. John was born on Feb. 9, 1938 in Hopewell, Va., the only child of the late John Lesley Mason and Nora Clatterbuck Mason. In 1956 John served his country in the USAF; serving four active years and two years in reserve. He married Barbara (Hammes) in 1959, together they had five children-Valerie, Perry, Karen, Brian and Melinda. John had lived in Illinois briefly where he was a carpenter and worked various other jobs.
Myrtle Raatz, 98, Hoffman, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hoffman. Funeral services for Myrtle Raatz will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at First Lutheran Church in Kensington with the Rev. Barbara Chapman officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, Kensington. Visitation is from 9-11 Friday at the church. Myrtle May (Blomgren) Raatz was born on May 28, 1912, in Gray Township near Pipestone, to Claus and Emma (Johnson) Blomgren.
