Funeral Service for Bernard Volker, 90, of Herman, will be held Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, with Pastor Jennifer Rose officiating. Organist will be Olivia Richards with special music provided by Jeanne Sperr. Pallbearers will be Bernard's grandsons: Tom Volker, Bradley Volker, Brian Volker, Eric Volker, Michael Volker, Tony Volker, Kyle Volker, Dustin Sperr and Evan Carlson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernard's granddaughters: Rebecca Pruse, Jennifer Selander, Shelley Volker, Ronda Blume, Glynis Volker, Olivia Volker and Ashley Carlson.
Lillian A. Hall, age 94 of Aitkin died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin. Lillian was born June 29, 1916 at Morris, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hermson) Grote. She grew up and attended schools in Morris, graduating from St. Mary's Catholic High School. She then moved to St. Paul and went to work for Snyder Drug in St. Paul. She married Ernest Hall on Feb. 18, 1947 at Hudson, Wis. They made their home in St. Paul and Lillian worked for Reed Ray Film in St. Paul.
Phyllis A. (Leraas) Erickson, of Alexandria, formerly of Morris, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 at Knute Nelson. Phyllis was born July 12, 1920 to Elvina and Ben Leraas in Barrett. She graduated in 1938 from Barrett High School and attended St. Cloud State University. On March 1, 1941 Phyllis married Harvey Erickson of Morris. The couple made their home in Morris where they were blessed with five children. Phyllis was a fantastic seamstress. She made dresses for her daughter and suits for her boys.
Funeral services for Waldon Henriksen of Fergus Falls, will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend Harry Olson will be officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will take place at the Summit Cemetery in Morris. Waldon Eugene Henriksen, son of Fred and Lena (Ernst) Henriksen, was born April 6, 1927 in Morris. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Alberta. On October 21, 1961, he was united in marriage to Lois Ruth Benard. Following their marriage, they lived in St. Paul.
Funeral services for Donald Roiland of Chokio, will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. Reverend Gloria J. Anderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. Burial will be in Bellingham Cemetery in Bellingham. Military honors will be provided by the Chokio American Legion and the Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard. Donald Theodore Roiland, son of Theodore "Ted" and Esther (Nelson) Roiland, was born Jan.
Thomas E. Cress was born in Morris on Oct. 31, 1939 and graduated in 1957. He passed away from colon cancer on March 12, 2011.
Jeff Flinn, Sr. age 66 of Hancock, died Monday April 18 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo following a brief illness. Funeral services were held on April 21 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Jeffrey Craig Flinn, Sr. was born on July 22, 1944, in Montevideo, the son of Howard and Katherine (Miller) Flinn.
Funeral services for Victor Zimmerman of Chokio, will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. Reverend Gloria J. Anderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris. Victor Edward Zimmerman, son of Oscar and Louise (Scheelk) Zimmerman, was born the 7th of 12 children on Oct. 3, 1922 in Everglade Township in Stevens County.
The funeral for Fayette Jipson, of Chokio will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, with Reverend Gloria J. Anderson officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, near Chokio. Fayette Samuel Jipson, son of Harry and Ysabel (Swan) Jipson was born on May 30, 1916 at Moneta, Iowa. He attended Trimello School in Clay County Iowa before moving with his family to Chokio in 1935. Fayette was united in marriage to Mary Overturf on July 3, 1937 at Herman.
Funeral services for John Marlow, of Chokio will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Chokio. Celebrant for the funeral mass will be Father Peter Vanderweyst. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Chokio. John Stanley Marlow, son of Dennis and Marie (Dreis) Marlow Sr. was born on Jan. 22, 1935 at Hancock. He attended first grade in Hancock, before moving with his family to Chokio and graduating in 1953. He was united in marriage to Betty Whitmer on Jan.
