Funeral services for Myrtle Wellman of Chokio were held Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. Myrtle Wellman was born Feb. 15, 1911. Myrtle died on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012. Burial was in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Funeral services for Beverly Pochardt of Starbuck were held Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Starbuck. Burial was in the church cemetery. Beverly Maureen Pochardt was born on Aug. 12 1934 and died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012
Tony Baker, age 59, of Debs, Minn., died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at Sanford Fargo Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Roosevelt Township Cemetery in Debs. Anthony Lee John Baker was born Oct. 17, 1952 in Ortonville, Minn., to Walter R. and Ronata (Burk) Baker. He was the first of their five children.

Paul William Leis, 91, Elbow Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Barrett Care Center. The funeral service for Paul Leis will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Christ Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake with the Rev. Don Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Elbow Lake. Friends may call at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, from 5-8 p.m.; visitation will resume at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Paul was born on Oct. 27, 1920, in Delaware Township, Grant County, Minnesota, to Jacob and Nellie (Buhr) Leis.
Lenore M. Christianson, age 90, of Spruce Hill Township, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at West Wind Village in Morris, Minn. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Spruce Hill Lutheran Church in Spruce Hill Township, with Rev. Michael Hanson and Rev. James Brown officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Kevin Lee and vocalists, Rev. Michael Hanson and Evangeline Anderson.
Malinda "Peg" Meyer of Morris passed away on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at the age of 95. Friends may call Sunday, Sept. 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Funeral services for Peg Meyer will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Funeral services for Ruth Kearney of Morris will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church near Morris. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Ruth Eleanor Schmidgall was born Feb. 27, 1939 and died on Sept. 18, 2012.
Helen Thompson was born on Aug. 29, 1934 in Morris, Minn. to Hildegard and Arnold Thompson. Helen and her two sisters, Donna and Kay, grew up in Morris and had fond memories of their time there. She was baptized as a young child and was confirmed in June 1948 at First Lutheran Church in Morris. The family would often take day trips to Alexandria to visit her grandma and her aunt Esmond, whom she was named after. In high school, she was involved in many singing groups and was a cheerleader, editor of the newspaper, and a member of the Honor Society.
Lorraine Baer of Glendale, Ariz., passed away surrounded by her loving family at Arrowhead Hospital on Sept. 5, 2012. Lorraine was 78 years old. The last words she spoke to her family were "I love you." That is the kind of wife and mother Lorraine was, always gentle and caring. Lorraine was born in Morris on March 21, 1934, to Harvey and Lila (Endresen) Van Horn. She grew up in Morris and graduated from Morris High School. Lorraine worked at Willie's Red Owl until she met and married her first husband, Arie Van Luik in Dec. of 1954.
